Jann Mardenborough Net Worth & Bio

Jann Mardenborough is a British professional racing driver from Wales who is currently competing in the Japanese Super GT series and is the NISMO Factory Driver. He is also one of the few professional racers in Nissan who apparently won the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy. 

Mardenborough came into fame after he became the youngest racer to be the winner of the GT Academy competition in 2011. Jann became a popular name in the world of car racing after winning championship contention in the GT300 class of Super GT in 2016. Mardenborough is also well known for being the son of  Steve Mardenborough, who is an English footballer.

Jann Mardenborough was born on 9 September 1991 in Darlington, County Durham, England to his parents;  Steve Mardenborough (Father),  an English footballer, and  Lesley Mardenborough (Mother). Jann is 32 years old and grew up in Cardiff. His educational background has not been revealed yet.

Jann Mardenborough Career

Prior to his racing career, Jann Mardenborough used to be a gamer and had not thought about racing as a professional career. Mardenborough then entered the GT Academy at the age of 19 and became the youngest racer to win the competition beating 90,000 other entrants in 2011. 

From the victory in the GT Academy, Jann got a chance to drive with Nissan at the Dubai 24 Hour and was able to score third in his class, which gave him the opportunity to compete in the British GT Championship the following year in which he secured the 6th position. He continued his successful venture by securing various positions in different championships such as the GT3 championship, and  Blancpain Endurance Series in 2012.

Jann started racing in various competitions and series throughout 2013 and 2014 and was able to secure tenth place in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand. 

He later joined Arden International to compete in the GP3 Series season held in Germany and won the race in the same year. 

In the 2015 GP3 Series, Jann switched back to  Carlin Motorsport to compete in the race. He raced in the Super Formula Series in Japan with Toyota in 2017 followed by his race for Team Impul in Super GT in 2018 and Kondō Racing in 2019.

Accident

While driving for the VLN Endurance Championship in Germany, Jann Mardenborough crashed his Nissan GTR Nismo, which caught air at the Flugplatz section at the  Nurburgring Nordschleife on 28 March 2015, killing a spectator and injuring two others. The accident didn’t cause harm to Mardenborough but led him to a very distressing condition and was hospitalized for a few days. He soon recovered and co-operated with the investigation and came back to racing.
